Apoligies

first of all sorry for not keeping this blog up to date, my excuse are two fold first of all the internet connection in Lanzarote was poor to diabolical, and secondly we were having such a good time that the blog took second stage.
where were we, ah! yes, Boxing day was spent as the next few day sitting by the pool and then back to the apartment for food. reading and watching television, I managed to read all of the sorcery Discworld books by Terry Pratchett, some I had read previously but I reread, as this time I read them in the order as Mr Pratchett meant them to be read.

We watched some terrible television whilst on the island, series from the 70's,80's and other years, the likes of the Incredible Hulk, Zeena the Warrior and old Doctor Who's with John Pertwee as the doctor, we came to the conclusion that television was poor in the old days.
New year came, and we celebrated by eating a Chinese meal then watching the fireworks display that was set on the beach, and a good display worthy of most cities, the next couple of days we spent just enjoying our time in the sun.
The weather from here on went down hill, with very cloudy days and a keen cold wind which put a stop on most days for any sun worshipping, but the weather was a lot better than back home so we wont grumble to much about it. We decided to hire a car as in a few days we were going to relocate from Puerto Del Carmen to Playa Blanca for three weeks and it would  be easier to transport the suitcase and so on to the new place.

So we hired a car and  for the next few days we explored the island, the last time we were here was over 20yrs ago and things ha changed quite a bit, for one the roads had improved, we visited places like La Santa here is a hotel complex whose main clients are sports people and the hotel is set up to accommodate, a lot of of European sports stars come here to train.
The Island is famous in its homage to artist and architect Ceaser Manrique, and dotted around the island are a lot of his works, which some we visited, one being  Mirador del Rio here he constructed a building that  has fantastic views over to the little Island of La Gracious which we visted.

on the 13th January 2015 we packed our suitcases and moved onto Playa_Blanca here we had a lovely two bedroom villa, it was of a modern design and came with  a pool which unfortunately  due to the weather we didn't use, it would be the sort of villa if we were rich enough we would love to own, the location could of been better with a good half an hour walk to the main strip that contained bars and restaurant, this was to be our home for the next 21 days, and we really enjoyed our stay.
As said before it was long time since we been to the island and the last time we were here Playa Blanca was a small little town, but now has really been developed and has sprawled out with villas, bungalows and hotels and has lost a bit of its old charm.
Most of the three weeks was spent walking up extinct volcanoes, beaches, ports, towns and driving, at the end of the three weeks we said goodbye to the villa and returned to Puerto_del_Carmen here we stayed in the apartments Club Pocillos which after the villa was a bit of a let down a bit basic an not that clean, we were suppose to have a sea view but as you look at the picture think of Fawlty Towers classic lines

"When I pay for a view, I expect something more interesting than that.
That is Torquay, madam.
That is not good enough.
Well, may I ask what you were expecting to see out of a Torquay hotel bedroom window? Sydney Opera House, perhaps? The Hanging Gardens of Babylon? Herds of wildebeest sweeping majestically Don't be silly.
I expect to be able to see the sea.
You can see the sea.
It's over there between the land and the sky.
I need a telescope to see that.
Well, may I suggest that you consider moving to a hotel closer to the sea? Or preferably in it? Right.
Now, listen to me.
I'm not satisfied, but I've decided to stay here.
However, I shall expect a reduction.
Why, because Krakatoa's not erupting at the moment? Because the room is cold, the bath is too small, the view is invisible, and the radio doesn't work."
OUR SEA VIEW
As it was only for  a couple of days we put up with it and made the best of it. We visted the local bars and restaurants a few times, and  unfortunately we watched in a bar Wales lose to England in the six Nations Rugby which wasn't the highlight of the holiday, and then it was pack the bags again and head home to cold Wales, our flight was great and we were picked up by a taxi firm at Bristol Airport and back to Cardiff where the maisonette and car were all fine.
We must both say that we really enjoyed this break to Lanzarote although the weather could of been a tad better but it a great time and now we are all set to get back to Essendee and start another adventure.

Speak to you soon xx
