Didn't see one concrete cow!!!

We were woken early this morning with the pillock opposite our boat running his engine at 0700hrs, so we got up and set off, we stop briefly and top up with water and as we start the first lock we meet up with the couple from yesterday Rodney and Wendy on their lovely boat Sycthia and again we share the lock which makes it easier.

We then go over the Great Ouse aqueduct which is a cast iron square trough carried on stone pillars originally built in 1808 but had to be replaced in1811 due to it collapsing, this replaced the nine locks that enabled the Ouse to be crossed.

Next we reach Old Wolverton here we moor up temporary and visit Tescos for some supplies we moored by bridge 70 and its about 10 min walk from here, we return to the boat put the shopping away and set off around Milton Keynes.

Milton Keynes is a typical new development, work began in he 1970 and the original population has grown from 40,000 to 100,000, saying that the canal meanders through a lot of green space as well as housing developments, and as the headlines says we didn't see the famous concrete cows, always a next time.

At Fenny Stratford we see Rodney and Wendy's boat moored up outside of their house so we toot the horn and they come out to say goodbye to us as we cruise by, a little further on we have a lock which unfortunately we have to operate ourselves, once through its open countryside again.

We carry on for little bit before mooring just above the Stoke Hammond lock with the village of the same name a little walk from the canal. For some reason I have trouble getting a signal on the digital arial so I have to bring the old arial out wipe the dust off and hey presto a good signal which is great because we are following Channel 4 excellent series Utopia.

Speak to you tomorrow
