On to Cosgrove

We leave our over night mooring and straight away we are at our first lock, one of six that we got to tackle today, as we enter the lock we are joined by another boat to help with the operation of the locks. The couple Rodney and Wendy , who are in their senior years are so sprightly and between all of us mucking in together the six locks are over in a breeze.

After the locks, open farmland graces on both sides of the canal, and I have said it before we are blessed with lovely countryside in this country. We pass the funny named village ,Yardley Gobion and Castlethorpe before mooring at the village of Cosgrove.

Cosgrove is another pretty village with a splendid stone bridge decorated in gothic style,it also has a curious pedestrian tunnel under the canal, which joins both sides of the village together, There is a holiday and touring caravan park located here, set among lakes where all sorts of water sports take place.

Also on this part of the canal is the branch of the Buckingham canal, at the moment only a mile of it but is under restoration and hopefully in he future will be open.

Speak to you soon.
