Site of new Bosworth Marina
Awoke this morning not to a cockerel crowing but a gardener strimming,so got up had our Saturday bacon sarnie ( sandwich ) and then left our mooring, a grey but cold morning, but promising to brighten up later.
As we cruise up the canal the steam train on the the battlefield line passes us tooting it horn and bellows of steam comes out of its chimney.
We then pass Shackerstone a farming village, west of this village is Gopsall park, where Handel is reputed to have composed the Messiah.
As we pass a wooded part of the canal we can hear gun shots, someone out hunting pheasants or rabbits? we hope no shots come our way, and then on to Snarestone where we moor up before the crooked tunnel and the end of this canal at the present time. The canal at one time extended another eight miles to Moira, but constant subsidence has made it impossible to maintain this section. But plans are a foot to reopen the canal.
So a bit of boat cleaning for us, before we go to the pub for a beer or two.
See you tomorrow
