And then we carry on in to the Vale of Pewsey no locks todayso Denise has a day off, we then pass the village of Wilcot which hosts its annual carnival every September since the day it started in 1898.
We then pass under Lady's bridge with its elaborate decorations, this stretch of the water was owned in 1793 by Lady Susannah Wroughton who objected to the canal and was appeased by the building of this highly ornate bridge at the cosy of £500.00.
Two hills dominate the left side of the canal Woodborough hill and the slightly smaller Pickle hill with its field terracing that's a relic of Celtic and Medieval cultivations.
We then pass the sweet named village Honeystreet, and at the wharf we take on some diesel which burns a hole in my wallet, in the distant hill is the white horse carving.
Then we pass the village of Stanton St Bernard, before we moored at the village of All Canning,here we take a walk around this pretty village and pay a visit to the local store for milk, talking to the shopkeeper and it turned out that she was from Newport.
The local pub The Kings arms hosts a concert in aid of fighting cancer this year the band Squeeze headlines.
We make our way back to the boat and do a few little jobs before sitting out in the afternoon sun in our quite lovely mooring location, and now we are sitting watching the television with a bit of a glow on our faces.
