We then pass under the Gatehampton railway bridge which was built by Brunel, and as we pass a steam train billowing smoke from it funnel pass along it, unfortunately I was to slow with the camera and missed a photo opportunity.
We then pass Whitchurch. Lock, and the river is a little busier with rowing boats from Pangbourne college, open farmland is our view before we enter Mapledurham lock with its cluster of period houses and cottages close to the restored and working water mill.
Then we reach the outskirts of Reading with its well kept houses with manicured gardens we then pass under the main bridge and we then reach the other side of Reading where we moor up by the handy canal side Tescos , we replenish our food and drinks stock before settling down for the night, and looking forward to tomorrow and a new canal.
