What a day

We were awoken this sunny morning by the sound of cows licking the side of our boat, so we got up and decided that we would set of back towards Oxford.

What a change from yesterday with bright blues sky's and a warm sun we went through St John lock with its statute of Father Thames guarding the lock , whilst entering the lock I noticed that the throttle was starting to stick, as we approached the next lock at Buscot it wouldn't work at all......not good news.

                                           Father Thames
So luckily we at a lock mooring so we explained to the lock keeper that we had a problem and he said it will be alright why we wait to have it repaired, I had a quick look at it to see if it was something simple, like a cable had come off but couldn't see anything, so  I phoned River Canal Rescue who are like  a rescue service, and they said they would be out soon. Three hours later and no sign so I phoned again and then a engineer turned up. From across the river where we broke down, are these things sent to try our patience......
Waiting for River Canal Rescue.....

Any way the engineer Greg and I took the throttle out of its housing then opened it up to find ball bearing had jumped out of its seating so basically we put it all back all back after a few trial  and errors we  managed to fixed it hooray.
As it was now early evening we moored near the lock and settled down for the night,Hopefully  tomorrow it will be a better day and we can get some miles back to Oxford.
A highlight today was when the Red Arrows flew right above our heads, http://www.raf.mod.uk/reds/
